From trial period to a valued member of the Back Office Sales team

An opportunity that became a permanent role

After completing my education, I joined Gerritsen through mutual contacts. Initially, it was on a trial basis, to see whether my competencies would be a good fit for the organisation. That trial period gave me the opportunity to truly discover what Gerritsen is about.

Before I started, I thought Gerritsen was mainly a transport company with a few crane trucks. Once I joined, I quickly realised how broad the organisation actually is. From industrial relocations to large international projects, the full scope of activities surprised me in a positive way.

Where commerce and operations come together

What attracted me from the start was the combination of customer interaction and the dynamic nature of the work. One moment you are building a complete schedule together with clients, the next you are calculating prices for large volumes of transport. Everything comes together in this role.

My first period was both educational and enjoyable. You quickly discover that there are many aspects of projects that carry significant weight and that you may not have considered before. At the same time, you see how strong preparation and structure can make processes much more efficient.

What stood out most in my first months was the efficiency of the Gerritsen Portal. You can clearly see how much it supports daily operations and helps maintain oversight in complex projects.

Collaboration and growth

My onboarding consisted of closely observing colleagues and then gradually taking on my first projects with guidance. That approach gave me confidence.

What made me feel at home quickly was the friendly atmosphere and the colleagues. It makes coming to work enjoyable. Collaboration here means standing up for one another. When needed, colleagues go the extra mile to help each other. At the same time, we approach quotations, planning and client discussions strategically. That combination of a pleasant atmosphere and professional focus makes the teamwork strong.

Since I started, I have seen the organisation build more structure. In the beginning, it felt like the entire company was focused on handling as much work as possible. Now I notice that processes are more structured, enabling us to serve customers more efficiently and connect them to the right services faster.

Development and ambition

At Gerritsen, I have had the opportunity to significantly improve my English by following a course. I have also discovered what I truly enjoy doing. Sales and customer contact have helped me develop maturity in my role and take ownership of my responsibilities.

For the coming years, I believe it is important that we continue to grow as a group. Not only in size, but also in how we present our character and strengths to customers. The combination of professionalism and personal approach is something we should continue to emphasise.

I am most proud of projects with tight deadlines that we complete successfully, often exceeding expectations and leaving clients satisfied. That is what makes the work worthwhile for me.
