From intern to transport planner: growing in responsibility, structure and teamwork at Gerritsen Group.
My start at Gerritsen
I joined Gerritsen through my graduation internship at ROC Tilburg. During the intake interviews, I spoke with Frank and Linda, who are still working at Gerritsen today. They welcomed me with open arms, which immediately gave me a good feeling. We quickly scheduled a follow up meeting, and that is how my journey at Gerritsen began.
I spent my internship period in the administration department. It was a very positive experience. You really get to know the company and see how everything comes together. After my internship, I moved into the planning department, where I truly found my place.
Growing within planning
In the planning department, I made the biggest steps in my development. I gradually grew from a more administrative role towards operational planning. This brought more responsibility, but also more challenge.
I completed the training to become a customs declarant and attended several information sessions. This helped me grow professionally within my field. At the same time, I know there is still a lot to learn. I see that as a positive challenge. Here, you continue to develop yourself.

Wouter wouters
Transport planner
My name is Wouter Wouters, I am 27 years old and I have been working at Gerritsen Group as a transport planner for almost five years. I was born and raised in Riel and now live in Goirle, close to our headquarters. From there, I make sure every day that our transports are carefully planned and well prepared before they hit the road.

Collaboration and quick communication
The atmosphere within Gerritsen is good. You work more closely with some colleagues than with others, but in the end you get to know everyone. That makes it a pleasant place to work.
One of our strengths is that we can switch quickly. We discuss matters by phone or simply walk into each other’s office. Communication lines are short and direct. That is essential in my role as a transport planner, because planning requires speed, overview and strong coordination between departments.
Proud of the team and our fleet
I am proud to work at Gerritsen. We have everything well organised. With our people, our equipment and our professional appearance, we stand strong as an organisation.
From my role, I naturally focus on what happens on the road. When I see photos of our Gerritsen trucks carrying impressive loads, it truly gives me a good feeling. I see the result of our work reflected in practice. That makes my job worthwhile every single day.
